With the holiday season quickly approaching, it is important to remember that pets do not make good gifts! That wrinkly, little puppy may be the most adorable gift under the tree, but likely not the best idea.
Every year, a large percentage of pets that are received as gifts, wind up in shelters or re-homed. This can happen for many reasons such as the recipients having unknown allergies, or the simple fact that they may not want or be ready for the responsibility of a pet. Personality conflicts can also arise, a pet owner needs to be compatible with their pet. You wouldn't buy someone a new human best friend, you shouldn't buy them a furry one either.
Remember that those adorable balls of fur are a 10-20 year commitment, so let's make sure our pet friends find forever homes!
